Ahmed Hossam is a Cairo-based comic book artist, illustrator, graphic
designer, and writer whose work is deeply rooted in the Egyptian street
and the stories of its everyday people. With a passion for storytelling and
a commitment to amplifying unheard voices, Ahmed›s art bridges identity,
culture, and narrative, portraying life as it unfolds across the city.
Ahmed began his artistic journey in 2012, drawn to the comic medium for
its ability to merge illustration and storytelling. Over the years, his work
has been showcased in notable exhibitions and publications, both locally
and internationally. Ahmed›s pieces have appeared in prominent Egyptian
magazines such as Garage and Combo and international platforms like
Popula. His contributions to children’s literature include works such as The
Guardian of Environment and The Prince & The Penguin, reaching audiences
across the UAE, the USA, and Egypt.
In 2015, Ahmed was appointed Art Director for Egyptian Comix Week, an
annual celebration of comics held in Cairo. Through this role, he actively
champions the development of Egypt’s comic culture, fostering spaces for
artists to connect, share experiences, and grow their skills. His vision includes
establishing a sustainable platform for regular comic publication, ensuring
artists have a consistent medium to share their work with wider audiences.
